John Gaskell is the founder and Director of Gaskell Planning Consultants (GPC), a firm of town planners providing a range of expert planning services to the private sector, local government and state government in Queensland.
With more than thirty years experience, John’s ability to provide holistic planning solutions and expert planning advice is highly valued.
John provides expert planning advice on complex development applications, public-private partnership projects and local and state planning policy matters. His depth of experience, integrity and calm manner is sought by both private and public sector clients.
John has been the expert planning lead for a number of city-shaping projects including:

John has extensive experience in the preparation of expert reports for the Planning and Environment Court and Land Court.
John founded GPC in 2005 after extensive experience in senior positions in both the private and public sector. John’s ten years with Brisbane City Council provides an excellent basis for many planning projects that involve the full process of planning from strategic policy preparation, local planning to detailed regulatory frameworks.
John’s standing in the planning profession was recognised in 2015 by the Planning Institute of Australia’s elevation of John’s membership to Fellow. John is very supportive of the ongoing professional development program of PIA and is a regular contributor to the program.
