GPC has extensive experience in the making and amending of local and state planning instruments that aim to support the delivery of an efficient, effective, transparent, integrated, coordinated, and accountable system of land use planning and development assessment in Queensland.
We have undertaken peer reviews of draft amendments and draft amendments to local and state planning policies and guidelines.

Independent planning and expert witness services
Gaskell Planning Consultants provide expert planning witness services in the Planning and Environment Court and Land Court.
GPC has experience in the Planning and Environment Court and Land Court assisting the Courts with a range of town planning matters across Queensland.
GPC’s most experienced town planners provide expert witness services including reviewing Court documents, participating in mediation, attending without prejudice meetings, preparing expert evidence reports and giving evidence to the Court.
GPC provides expert planning advice on complex development applications, public-private partnership projects and local and state planning policy matters.
GPC has acted as lead planning advisor for key precincts such as the The Spit (Gold Coast), USC Moreton Bay (Petrie), Herston Quarter (Bowen Hills) and Newstead Riverpark.
In this role we wear multiple hats to ensure that the vision and strategic intent for key precincts and catalyst projects is maintained throughout the life of the project and into implementation. We also work to ensure efficient development assessment processes are undertaken or supported and work collaboratively with our clients and other consultants to deliver good quality planning and development outcomes on the ground.

Infrastructure designations
GPC has extensive experience with clients, often education establishments, in obtaining an infrastructure designation (formerly known as a community infrastructure designations) under the Planning Act 2016.
An infrastructure designation establishes a streamlined approval process for essential and supporting community infrastructure, and can deliver substantial cost savings.
GPC have a proven track record and skills in managing the application process and associated public consultation process to deliver the infrastructure designation that will support the implementation of master plans and capital infrastructure investments.
