Simon Grice has thirteen years of experience in town planning and development across Queensland. Simon’s outstanding working knowledge of Queensland’s planning system has enabled him to facilitate a range of complex and high-profile projects.

Simon worked in senior roles with Townsville City Council and Brisbane City Council prior to joining GPC in 2019. His excellent local government expertise comes with great insights into Council’s requirements to help clients with the key ingredients for delivering development success.

 Simon has particular expertise in the following sectors:

  • retirement living and aged care accommodation

  • inner-city high rise buildings

  • mixed uses

  • retail and commercial development

  • education establishments

  • heritage

  • health facilities

  • master-planned communities.

In addition to experience in development assessment, Simon has worked in strategic planning. He brings a knowledge of strategic plan making (including for priority development areas,) planning schemes and ministerial designations on behalf of both local and state governments and most recently been involved in planning appeals for Brisbane City Council.

Simon assists with the preparation of expert planning witness reports and has experience in mediation and without prejudice conferences, bringing a calm and methodical approach to all his work.

Simon is a former Regional Branch Representative of the Planning Institute of Australia.
